Prof. Wang graduated from Beijing Medical College (now known as Peking University Health Science Center) in 1982, and started her career at the Institute for Nutrition and Food Hygiene of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. In 1987, she went to Cornell University on a scholarship from the United Nations University, where she received her Master’s Degree in Geriatric Nutrition and PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology. During her Cornell years, she was involved in multiple studies in nutrition and health in the elderly, and was part of the China–Cornell–Oxford Project that studied the link between diet and disease in China. In 2000, she moved to Duke University School of Medicine, and worked with the centers/departments of elderly health, behavioral science, and nutrition on projects such as the renowned DASH study (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension). She joined the PUCRI in 2008, and contributed to the creation and management of the Chinese Course on Drug Development and Regulatory Sciences (CCDRS) and the Peking University Clinical Research Program (PUCRP). Currently at the PUCRI, Prof. Wang oversees international cooperation and teaching quality, undertakes the construction of the biobank and the medical informatics platform, runs the Lecture Series by Clinical Research Experts and the Reading Course of Clinical Research Literature, and serves as the PI for Chinese Heart Healthy Diet for People With High Cardiovascular Risk in China (DECIDE-Diet), a National Key R&D Project.
