Prof. Fang’s primary focus is on molecular pathology and molecular biological mechanism of tumor invasion and metastasis. He has presided over more than 20 national or provincial/ministerial projects (including projects supported by the National Key R&D Program and the 973 Project), published more than 120 academic papers (including over 40 papers in SCI journals), and edited or contributed to 5 books. He has received 8 provincial/ministerial awards for scientific and technological achievement, including the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (as the 8th undertaker) and first prize of the Ministry of Health Science and Technology Progress Award (twice as the first undertaker). He is a laureate of the Beijing Municipal May 4th Medal, holds several honorary titles (such as Outstanding Talent at the Turn of the 21st Century by the Ministry of Education and Young/Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions by the Ministry of Health), and enjoys State Council Special Allowance.
Prof. Fang is member of the 23rd, 24th and 25th councils of the Chinese Medical Association, member of the standing committee of its Pathology Society, and Honorary Chairman of its Medical Research Management Society. He is a committee member of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, Honorary Chairman of the Society of Cancer Metastasis under the China Anti-Cancer Association, Executive Council Member of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, and Chair of the Society of Mobile Medicine under the Chinese Research Hospital Association.
